Facebook is Changing the Name of Instagram And WhatsApp

Facebook is going to change the name of its two the world most popular apps, Instagram and WhatsApp, to better disclose its ownership of the apps.

After some time the App Instagram will be known as “Instagram from Facebook” and WhatsApp will be known as “WhatsApp from Facebook.”

On Friday the re-branding effort was discovered by the journalists at the information, and confirmed by representatives of Facebook.

A Spokesperson told the information, “We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook,”

They told to the publication that they were newly notified of the changes and display to becoming as a result of antitrust regulators scrutinizing the company’s holdings.

According to them, The name of App’s will be the same on the home screen of your smartphone and tablet, Nonetheless, App’s names will be a change in the Google Play Store and Apple Play store for people first downloading them.

Was The  Writing on the (Facebook) Wall?

There are many outlets pointing out this re-branding effort has been a long time coming. However, A blogger Jane Manchun Wong tweeted on twitter about it back in March, after a few months, the founders of the company resigned citing a decreasing lack of autonomy.

While it is fuzzy if the move is a govt mandate from the FTC – an entity that, According to the Wall Street Journal, was investigating Facebook’s acquisition of the companies in a potential antitrust case – it displays to be connected.

Actually, Facebook doesn’t stand much to achieve by putting its name on the most popular apps: It is already a household name and one that has become associated with privacy scandals.

Adding Facebook’s Name on the most famous apps will not make those apps any more famous than they are in present and would possibly cause users to be more wary about the privacy and security of those Apps.

Yet, Facebook has to say when the changes will go into effect, however, we will be on touch to monitor the real situation as it develops.
